The health and well being of the Decatur community is served by two hospitals, Decatur General Hospital
and Parkway Medical Center Hospital.
Decatur General Hospital is a 273-bed not-for-profit hospital and Parkway currently is licensed for 112 beds. Both hospitals provide emergency room services, cardiac care units, and have areas dedicated to women and children’s health. The Decatur General Oncology Center provides the only comprehensive cancer care program in Morgan County.
In addition to the two major hospitals, there are private and public psychiatric hospitals, a district health department, counseling centers and a private outpatient clinic.
Decatur has more than 100 physicians, 42 dentists, 23 pharmacies, and five nursing homes to ensure that the best health care is available for our residents.

Our older residents benefit from a host of programs and services such as exercise classes, water aerobics, health screening and older-adult emergency response programs. There are many retirement and assisted living facilities in Decatur, too.
