The Decatur Recreation Center is designed to make recreation and wellness accessible to the entire community. General facility access is free with a Community Membership, including access to open gym time, the indoor walking track, open cardio areas, Wi-Fi, and other general recreation spaces. Paid memberships are available for aquatics, the Functional Fitness strength room, and group fitness classes.

Residents and non-residents are welcome and receive the same membership access and rates. Everyone entering the Recreation Center should check in at Member Services upon arrival.

Monthly Memberships: Monthly memberships purchased online do not automatically renew. Members who would like to set up automatic monthly renewal may do so in person at the Decatur Recreation Center front desk.

A Community Membership is required for regular facility access and allows members to check in, complete required waivers, register for programs, and maintain their Recreation Center account.

Members ages 13 and older may create and manage their own account. Children under 13 must be added to a parent or legal guardian's household account. Children under 13 may be in the facility without a parent or guardian only while actively participating in a supervised Recreation Center program, team, or class.

A paid Aquatics Membership provides access to the Decatur Recreation Center's 10-lane indoor swimming pool during available lap swim, open swim, and other scheduled aquatics hours. General Community Membership does not include pool access.

Family Membership: Includes up to five children.
Additional Child: May be added to an eligible Couple or parent membership.
Senior & Military Discount: A 10% discount is available on applicable Aquatics Membership rates.

Aquatics Membership Includes

Aquatics Membership provides access to the pool during scheduled general-use hours and also includes Recreation Center aquatic fitness classes unless otherwise noted for a specialty program.

Children under age 13 using the pool must be accompanied by a responsible adult unless they are actively participating in a supervised swim team, lesson, club, or Recreation Center program.

The Functional Fitness Membership provides access to the Recreation Center's dedicated strength and functional training room. The space includes equipment such as dumbbells, kettlebells, adjustable benches, medicine balls, plyometric boxes, and other functional strength-training equipment.

Members must be 16 years of age or older to independently use the Functional Fitness area unless participating in an approved Recreation Center program under direct supervision.

Please return equipment after use, wipe down equipment and benches, use equipment only as intended, and wear closed-toe athletic shoes while using the fitness area. Water in sealed containers is permitted; food is not permitted.

The Decatur Recreation Center offers a variety of instructor-led fitness classes designed for different interests, ability levels, and schedules.

The Group Fitness Membership is $35 per month and includes registration for standard Group Fitness classes during the active membership period. Group Fitness includes all regular fitness classes except Spin and Reformer Pilates.

Members must be 13 or older to be eligible for a Group Fitness Membership.

Group Fitness Membership

A drop-in registration is valid for one class only. It is not a day pass or unlimited same-day fitness access. For example, attending two separately scheduled Group Fitness classes without a Group Fitness Membership would require two individual class registrations.

Class registration may be completed online or in person at the Decatur Recreation Center.

Because Spin and Reformer Pilates have limited equipment and class capacities, advance registration is strongly encouraged.

Aquatic Fitness

Aquatic fitness classes are not part of the Group Fitness Membership or Group Fitness drop-in pricing. Aquatic fitness is included with an active Aquatics Membership.

Fitness and specialty-program fees may vary as programs, equipment needs, instructor costs, and offerings change.

Lockers are available for members who would like storage while using the Recreation Center. Daily, monthly, and annual options are available.

Daily Lockers

Daily lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are valid only for the day of purchase. Daily lockers must be emptied before the Recreation Center closes.

If a daily locker remains occupied after closing, staff will remove and inventory the contents and process the items through Lost & Found. A $10 Locker Clearance Fee must be paid before belongings are returned.

Monthly & Annual Lockers

Monthly and annual lockers are assigned to an individual member and may not be shared or transferred. Members are responsible for keeping their assigned locker clean and following Recreation Center locker policies.

The City of Decatur is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property stored in lockers.

The Decatur Recreation Center offers several spaces for meetings, practices, events, training, and other community uses.

Facility rentals generally have a two-hour minimum, and setup and cleanup time must be included within the reserved rental period. Additional setup time may be available for purchase. Residents and non-residents pay the same rental rates.

Availability is based on the Recreation Center schedule and existing City programs.

Multipurpose Room Rentals

Multipurpose rooms are well suited for meetings, birthday gatherings, showers, club meetings, scout meetings, community organizations, training sessions, and small events.

Setup and cleanup time should be included when determining how much time to reserve.

Gym & Court Rentals

The Recreation Center includes four gym courts that may be rented individually or together depending on availability.

Court rentals can accommodate activities including basketball, volleyball, futsal, cheer, wrestling, pickleball, and other athletic uses.

Rental Policies

Rental availability is subject to Recreation Center programming and facility schedules. City programs and Recreation Center activities generally receive priority when schedules are developed. Once a rental is confirmed and published, the Recreation Center generally will not displace that reservation except when necessary because of an emergency or unforeseen circumstance.

Depending on the type of rental, a Certificate of Insurance may be required for commercial events. Security or additional staff may be required for certain activities or larger events. Additional staffing charges may apply for use outside normal operating hours, and a refundable damage deposit may be required based on the nature and scale of the rental. Alcohol is prohibited unless specifically approved by the City.

Rental Cancellations

If a renter cancels a reservation, the rental amount will be provided as a 100% credit toward a future rental. If the City cancels a rental because of unforeseen circumstances, a 100% refund will be issued.
