As the director of Environmental Services, Daniel Boutwell provides leadership and strategic planning for the city’s Solid Waste, City Garage, and Beautification operations.

Department Functions / Responsibilities:

All public requests for these areas are processed through this office and directed to the appropriate departments.
Beautification is responsible for maintaining alleyways, litter pickup along rights-of-way, and mowing of City owned property. 
City Garage provides service and maintenance to Police units, Solid Waste trucks, Street Department equipment, and much more. 
Solid Waste is responsible for garbage and bulk waste. Every single week they service nearly 20,000 customers! 

We welcome our residents to use our free dumpster located on our compound during business hours. NO contractor debris or tires will be accepted and you will be asked to show your Decatur Utilities bill or drivers license as this benefit is only for residents who are customers of the City of Decatur Solid Waste Department.  We thank you for your cooperation so that we may continue to provide this service.
